New Tampa Unplugged: La Lucha and Friends
“Spring Into Summer” with La Lucha and Friends! This prominent jazz trio is consistently evolving and surprising their audiences with re-imagined, genre-shifting arrangements. For this concert, La Lucha will be collaborating for the first time with Brazilian trombonist, François de Lima, a major figure in Samba, Bossa Nova and MPB (Djavan, Gal Costa, Banda Mantiqueira) and long-time friend and virtuoso guitarist, LaRue Nickelson.
Hollywood Hillsborough Film Series: Cocoon
Cocoon is a 1985 Academy Award-winning science fiction fantasy film. Directed by Ron Howard, it follows a group of Florida retirees who unknowingly swim in a pool containing alien cocoons and find themselves energized with youth!

Edward Scissorhands, which is described as a fantastic, modern day suburban fairy tale, was predominately filmed in Lutz. The Tim Burton classic tells the story of Edward, an artificial and unfinished humanoid with scissors for hands, as he is adopted into suburban life and falls in love.
Hollywood Hillsborough Film Series: Live By Night
Directed by Ben Affleck, Live By Night is set in prohibition-era Ybor City and follows Joe Coughlin, son of a Boston police deputy who turns to a life of organized crime. He and his crew show up in Ybor City to stake a claim in the illegal rum-running business. The film’s setting is not its only tie to the bay area. Dennis Lehane, the original novel’s author, was a student of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg.

New Tampa Unplugged is a spin on the hit show, MTV Unplugged. Our series presents acoustic performances from notable Tampa Bay musicians in a unique, intimate way with candlelit cabaret seating. Jazz, blues, funk, Latin jazz, and fusion meet in the combustible sound of Acme Jazz Garage, featuring guitarist Matt Swenson, bassist Philip Booth, pianist and keyboardist Jody Marsh, saxophonist Rick Runion, and drummer Michael Washington.

Saxophonist Jack Wilkins, USF's longtime Director of Jazz Studies, will debut his new recording Acadian Rhythms. For his seventh album, the music grew from Jack's experience in 2022 as artist-in-residence at Acadia National Park in Maine and reflects the beauty and the stories he discovered there.

Ballet Magnificat Presents The Scarlet Cord
The Scarlet Cord depicts an incredible drama of two missionaries not willing to compromise their faith in Jesus Christ. They live and minister in the midst of one of the cruelest regimes the world has ever known, the communist Soviet Union. The main character, Rahab, learns a hard lesson when she is abandoned by the Soviet commander she loved. The missionaries share the hope of Jesus to this dejected woman and a moving story of a revolution unfolds – a human heart turning to the ultimate truth, Jesus Christ.

The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay: Annelies
The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay performs James Whitbourn’s Annelies, a poignant journey through Anne Frank’s Diary. The performance will feature the 130-voice chorus, instrumentalists, and guest speakers. Also on the program is the world premiere of Oraciones by Nico Gutierrez, who has been commissioned by The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.
